Drug-Free Workplace Policy
Purpose And Commitment
Ignite Families LLC is committed to providing a safe, healthy, and productive work environment for all employees, volunteers, and the families and children we serve. The use, possession, distribution, or sale of illegal drugs, controlled substances, or alcohol in the workplace poses serious risks to the safety and well-being of our staff, clients, and the communities we support.
As a community-based social services provider operating under contract with the Indiana Department of Child Services (DCS), Ignite Families LLC maintains a strict drug-free workplace. This policy establishes standards that exceed federal and state requirements and reflects our organizational commitment to the highest standards of professional conduct and client care.
Scope and Application
This policy applies to:
- All full-time and part-time employees
- Contractors, consultants, and temporary workers
- Volunteers and interns
- Any individual acting on behalf of Ignite Families LLC
This policy applies to all company premises, company vehicles, client homes and facilities, and any location where Ignite Families LLC business is conducted.
Prohibited Conduct
Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
Ignite Families LLC recognizes that substance use disorders are health conditions. Employees who voluntarily come forward with a substance use problem prior to any violation of this policy may be referred to an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for evaluation, counseling, and treatment. Participation in an EAP does not protect an employee from disciplinary action for policy violations.
Consequences of Violations
Violations of this policy will result in disciplinary action up to and including immediate termination of employment. The severity of the disciplinary action will be commensurate with the nature and circumstances of the violation, but the safety of clients, particularly children and vulnerable families, will always be the paramount consideration.
Any employee convicted of a drug-related criminal offense must report such conviction to their supervisor within five (5) business days. Failure to report may result in immediate termination.
Confidentiality
All information related to drug and alcohol testing, EAP referrals, and related matters will be treated with the highest degree of confidentiality permitted by law. Test results will be maintained in secure, confidential files separate from general personnel records.
Compliance With State And Federal Law
This policy is designed to comply with the Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988, applicable Indiana state laws, and all requirements set forth by the Indiana Department of Child Services. In the event of any conflict between this policy and applicable law, the law will control.
Policy Acknowledgment
All employees are required to sign a Drug-Free Workplace Policy Acknowledgment Form as a condition of employment and upon any revision of this policy. Signed acknowledgment forms will be maintained in the employee’s personnel file.
